Dreaming of interior design as a child and then winding up in an administrative role probably sounds rather bizarre. The choice to go to the Academy was not well received by my parents before. Ultimately, I followed a Tourism and Languages programme, thereafter working as an executive assistant for 17 years. I finally realised all my architectural dreams in my own house together with my husband and ended up at the Royal Ballet School Antwerp. Despite my administrative role, I always try to add a touch of culture and tourism in our pupils’ trips and excursions. I have a lot of contact with the pupils and that offers me a different view of my role. Pupils should certainly dream but also remain realistic and have a plan B ready. Therefore, it is great that our students can both practice their passion and obtain a diploma. They get the chance to pursue their studies while also building a bright future.
