With ‘Raising the Future of Dance’, the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp is celebrating its 75th anniversary. This milestone performance takes you on a journey through the history, the present and the future of Flanders’ leading ballet academy. The magnificent Opera Antwerp provides the backdrop for a unique encounter between generations and artistic worlds, as both celebrated alumni and promising young students share the stage.
The performance demonstrates just how versatile the classical foundation of the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp truly is. The packed programme combines contemporary dance with the legacy of the Brabants sisters and the work of leading figures from the Belgian and international dance world, including Maurice Béjart, Ben Van Cauwenbergh and Jean Christophe Maillot. Tradition and innovation go hand in hand.
Alongside the younger generation of dancers, the alumni also return to the place that marked the start of their artistic careers. Especially for this anniversary performance, they return from world-renowned companies such as Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Béjart Ballet Lausanne, the Vienna State Opera and the Gothenburg Opera, amongst others.
‘Raising the Future of Dance’ is a dynamic encounter between the past, the present and, above all, what is yet to come.
